    The Sarah Lesley Cabin Experience...

The nature hike to this cabin begins along a small gravel road that winds slowly upwards introducing you to the sights, sounds and smells of the forest. Take your time and watch for deer, turkey, grouse and song birds along the way towards the steep climb at the escarpment base.

The Sarah Lesley Trail is for your own private use during your stay. It crosses over a small wooden bridge and winds its way around the edge of a spring fed pond, rich with wildlife and seasonal flowers and plants unique to a wetland habitat.

The cabin itself is placed to suit the landscape of the Deacon Escarpment. You will find this open area has large rocky outcrops, lichens, pines and oaks, and some steep drops. Practice caution around these areas and stay back from the edges. The up drafts along the escarpment are favourite flying areas for Turkey Vultures, Hawks, and Bald and Golden Eagles!
